Metagenomics
High throughput 16S rDNA/ITS regions sequencing
Cosmolabo is a leading provider of multiomics services. We have extensive experience in targeted gene sequencing using the short-read sequencing platform Illumina. NextSeq1000 /Miseq short-read sequencing instruments can generate high throughput data, coverage spanning overlapping regions, allowing for a more realistic restoration of the microbial composition in the given samples.
Introduction of 16S/18S/ITS Amplicon Sequencing
16S rDNA/ITS targeted amplicon sequencing, also known as 16S metagenomics sequencing. This refers to the sequencing of variable regions of bacterial 16S rDNA gene and Internal Transcribed Spacer (ITS1/ITS2) of fungi. This method enable to determine microbial community from in situ does not require culturing microorganisms in the laboratory.
Among them, 16S rRNA gene (~1,4500-1550 bp) with nine variable regions (V1-V9) interspersed between conserved regions, is used to analyze the diversity of bacteria or archaea. While ITS1/2 (390-900 bp) is the spacer DNA between the small-subunit and large-subunit ribosomal RNA genes in bacteria, fungi, and archaea. ITS region has been widely utilized for the taxonomical classification of fungal species.
